Plain-English terms of service.

These are the rules of the road. They're written so you can actually read them — the full master agreement signed by enterprise customers is consistent with the summary on this page.

1. The service

Assistthewchat provides a hosted live chat widget plus a dashboard for the people who answer those chats. By signing up for a workspace, you ("Customer") agree to use the service in line with these terms.

2. Your account

  • You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe.
  • One person, one account — sharing logins across humans is not allowed.
  • You must be 18 or older, or have a guardian's consent, to operate a workspace.

3. Acceptable use

You may not use Assistthewchat to:

  • Send spam, harass people, or impersonate others.
  • Distribute malware, phishing pages, or illegal content.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or load-test the service without our written permission.
  • Resell the service as your own product without an explicit reseller agreement.

4. Subscriptions & billing

  • Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly. Yearly billing comes with a discount.
  • You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel from the dashboard at any time. Changes take effect at the next billing cycle.
  • Refunds are pro-rata for annual plans cancelled within 30 days. Monthly plans are not refunded after the period starts.
  • Failed payments pause access after a 7-day grace period; data is retained for 30 days, then deleted.

5. Free trial

The free-trial plan is one-per-company and runs for the duration listed at signup. We may extend a trial on request — just ask us.

6. Customer data

You own your data. We act as a processor on your behalf and never as a controller of the messages your customers send through the widget. Specifically:

  • We do not collect leads from your visitors. No marketing list of yours or your customers is built on our side.
  • We do not sell, share, or rent your data. Not to advertisers, not to "data partners", not under any "anonymised" pretext.
  • We do not train AI models on your conversations.
  • Workspaces are isolated. Every database read and write is scoped by workspace_id. There is no cross-tenant background job that touches message content.
  • We do not read your messages for support unless your workspace owner explicitly asks us to, in writing.

The full privacy policy covers what we collect, how long we retain it, and how to export or delete it. A data processing addendum (DPA) is available on request.

7. Uptime & support

  • We target 99.9 % monthly uptime, measured at our edge. Live status: /status/.
  • Standard support is via in-app chat and email. Enterprise plans include named contacts and an SLA.

8. Liability

Our total liability for any claim arising under these terms is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect or consequential damages — lost profit, lost data restored from your own backups, etc.

9. Termination

You may cancel anytime from the dashboard. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that don't pay. We'll always tell you why and give you a reasonable window to export your data.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes go to the courts in Bengaluru, unless your master agreement says otherwise.
